Driving Schools – Safety Harbor, FL

Love is in the air!

February may mean different things to different people, but to me, February says Valentine’s Day! It also says Wedding Anniversary Day and this year is extra special because our household will contribute a new licensed driver to the roads! Just what we need, more drivers around here!

This moment has caused us to scour the resources available for new drivers to actually learn how to get out of tricky and potentially dangerous situations.

The absolute best option, in part because it is FREE for Pinellas County residents is the Teen Driver Challenge offered by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

They offer the ability for your teen to learn in a car they will actually be driving IRL (in real life for those of us that had to ask the question as I once did!) The day and a half class highlights these Training Exercises:
1. Evasive Maneuvers
2. Off-Road Recovery
3. Threshold – Emergency Braking
4. Forward Serpentine
5. Cornering
6. Reverse Serpentine
7. Backing
8. Figure 8

While most vehicles come standard with automatic transmission, some of us still appreciate the art of driving a manual transmission with a clutch! If you want this for your teen or they care to learn, about 3 hours away in Starke, FL you could have that opportunity. While not a free event, it’s something worth considering. They also accommodate all skill levels of driving so your teen is sure to get the best and most useful experience for them. Check it out – Teen Driving School, Ages 14 to 19.

For the ultimate in driving schools and especially if your teen is a car aficionado, check out for the BMW One or Two Day Teen School premiere school in car control.

As a bonus, BMW is smart enough to hold this school in conjunction with the adult version so you can make it a family event! This one takes some planning because a trip to South Carolina or California is in order, but make no mistake, you will not be disappointed!

In most driving schools we learn how to drive properly, but don’t get much if any opportunity to experience how to get out of one of those tricky and potentially dangerous situations. Here in the controlled environment with skilled instructors, you get the opportunity to lose control of the car and learn how to get control back. The skid pad is not for the faint of heart, but worth to build true driver control confidence!

Wishing you and your teen, safe and confident driving for the miles ahead! Enjoy the journey!
